CoSeC GRAND CHALLENGES
In 2025 we began to explore the “Grand Challenges” that the CoSeC communities are facing over the next five to ten years, to help identify the high-level challenges relevant for computational research across UKRI.
COLLABORATIVE COMPUTATIONAL COMMUNITIES
Funding was awarded by CoSeC in January 2025 to develop and proliferate the CCP model across research communities within UKRI, creating a strong and stable landscape of communities to support the concept of research computing software as an infrastructure.
CoSeC CONFERENCE 2025
This year’s annual conference took place on Wednesday 3rd December at Manchester Central Convention Complex. The official proceedings are now available to download.
2025 IMPACT AWARD WINNER
CoSeC have awarded the 2025 CoSeC Impact Award to Dr. David Lusher of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) for his exceptional contributions to the scientific community.
2025 CoSeC FELLOWS
We are delighted to announce our CoSeC Fellows for 2025! Each is an ambassador CoSeC, highlighting the benefits of the programme and the CCP model, and making scientists and researchers aware of the world leading activities undertaken through CoSeC’s work.
CoSeC COMMUNITY FORUM
The CoSeC Community Forum is a bi-annual meeting involving the communities directly involved with the CoSeC programme and is an opportunity to come together to report on recent activities and future opportunities.

A UKRI Centre to enable and support collaborative computational research communities:
- Hosted at UKRI STFC’s national laboratories and run by STFC’s Scientific Computing department
- Enables the creation of new computational research communities across UKRI
- Provides computational research support to communities run through universities across the UK
- Spans thousands of researchers around research software development, training and community building
- A hub for nationally important computational research topics like AI, Quantum and Research Data Curation
