Communities

CoSeC supports and enables domain-specific collaborative computational communities. These identify either as Collaborative Computational Projects (CCPs) or as High-end Computing Consortia (HECs). Following a 2024 CoSeC funding call for new communities there are now 25 communities in total that cover a wide research landscape. More detail of these communities can be found in the Current CCPs and HECs area of our website.

The communities have formed over many years through strategic funding issued by UKRI councils such as EPSRC, BBSRC and MRC, and most recently through the central UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure programme, recognising the national and cross-disciplinary importance of the collaborative computational community model.

While individually the communities come together through a process of evolution, coalescence and ultimately leadership from key researchers in each field, together they form a synergistic strategic landscape of support that enables and develops the UK’s computational research capability.
