Award Details:
This funding comes via STFC from the Large-scale Compute workstream of UKRI’s Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) programme and is curated by the Computational Science Centre for Research Communities (CoSeC).
This funding was by invitation only for existing Collaborative Computational Project (CCP) based communities already funded through the EPSRC, BBSRC and MRC UKRI Research Councils. It was designed to bridge these communities from their existing council-specific position to one aligned with that of the wider UKRI DRI to enable a strong cohort of cross-UKRI organised community activity to support the UKRI ambition around its research infrastructure. Chairs of the thirteen communities were invited to submit a proposal to create a new set of workplans building on their existing funded plans with a view to enabling long-term scoping and road mapping.
Communities were invited to apply for up to £275,000 (FEC) over a duration of up to 2 years with all awards starting on the 1 November 2024. Joint applications by multiple eligible communities were permitted. In this case, the maximum total amount available was defined by how many communities participated in a joint application.
For successful applications 1 FTE of CoSeC technical staff effort is also available for the duration of the grant per eligible community involved.
All proposals were evaluated by all members of independent expert panel with scoring leading to three potential outcomes: (i) funded, (ii) funded with an improvement plan, (iii) unfunded.
